Wedding at St Thomas Church

Congratulations - We want to do all that we can to make sure your special day is all that you ever hoped it would be.

To arrange a wedding at St Thomas’ or at one of the churches we are linked with please be in touch with the Parish Office and we will help you fill in the forms needed and make sure that you can be married here with us. office@stthomaswells.co.uk

Remember everyone in the country has the right to be married in a Church of England church, either of the parish you live in or the church where you would normally worship if this is different.

Getting married at St Thomas Church

With the change of marriage law a few years ago people with connections through their family with St Thomas’ can choose to be married here if you can show:-

That one of you:-
  • Has at any time lived in the parish for a period of at least 6 months or
  • Was baptised in the parish or
  • Was prepared for confirmation in the parish or
  • Has at any time regularly gone to normal church services in the parish church for a period of at least 6 months or
That one of your parents, at any time after you were born:-
  • Has lived in the parish for a period of at least 6 months or
  • Has regularly gone to normal church services in the parish church for a period of at least 6 months or
That one of your parents or grandparents:-
  • Was married in the parish

Wedding Music

Organ music is the traditional option for wedding music and at St Thomas and the Vicar, Director of Music and Assistant Organist can offer you guidance and support in selecting appropriate music and hymns for your wedding service: music@stthomaswells.co.uk. When choosing hymns for the service it is important to remember to find hymns that are familiar to your guests - there is nothing worse than having a hymn that nobody feels able to sing well!
